About the Event
The Brazilian Pantanal – Moira Yip
The Brazilian Pantanal is a vast wetland, much of it given over to cattle ranches, some of whose owners are now working to conserve the natural habitats and local wildlife. Moira has been twice, to two different areas. She will focus on the most recent trip, in 2023, when she, her husband George, and another couple visited different teams of researchers working with jaguars, giant armadillos, tapirs, and hyacinth macaws. Her talk will include conservation efforts as well as threats, such as wildfires. Join Moira as she takes us with her to the world's largest tropical wetland (42 million acres) and one of the most pristine.
